The Controller is responsible for managing the financial and accounting functions of the company. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation and review of monthly financial statements and reports.
- Manage the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Supervise the accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Conduct financial analysis and provide strategic recommendations to senior management.
- Coordinate with project managers to review job cost reports and update work-in-progress schedules.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, and insurance providers.
- Mentor and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualification Standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, QuickBase, or similar financial systems, with demonstrated experience in customizing and optimizing financial processes
- Strong understanding of WIP schedule preparation and job costing, particularly in a construction or project-based accounting setting.
- Expertise in managing month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting, and compliance audits.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Experience managing payroll, including prevailing wage and certified payroll reporting, tax filings, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, with advanced Excel skills.
